Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Pacts. By creating an account you agree to them. They're written to be readable, not to trap you.

The service

Pacts helps you keep small daily commitments — on your own, or with a partner or small circle who check in on each other. It's a motivational tool, not a professional, medical, or financial service, and it isn't a substitute for advice from a qualified professional.

Pacts is not a medical device and does not give medical advice. It is not for emergencies or anything time-critical — if you need urgent help, call your local emergency services or a qualified professional.

Reminders, streaks, and notifications are best-effort and can fail or be delayed for reasons outside our control (your device, its operating system, network, or notification delivery). Never rely on Pacts for anything where a missed or late reminder could cause harm — for example, taking medication on time.

Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Pacts. By creating an account you confirm that you are 16 or older.

We may suspend or close, on notice, an account we reasonably believe belongs to someone under 16.

Your account

You're responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under your account.

Provide accurate information and keep your contact email current so account and security messages reach you.

Being a good circle member

Check others in honestly. Pacts runs on peer trust — deliberately false check-ins undermine everyone.

Don't harass, abuse, or nudge people to shame them. Use block and report if someone crosses a line.

Don't upload content that's illegal, hateful, or that you don't have the right to share.

Content you add

You keep ownership of the pacts, notes, and photos you add. You grant us the limited permission needed to store and show them to your circle so the app can work.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these terms or put other users at risk.

Subscriptions

The Pacts core loop is free. Optional paid features (Pacts Pro) may be offered through your app store; billing, renewals, and refunds are handled by the store under its terms.

Peer content

Check-ins, marks, disputes, notes, and cheers come from other members of your circle. We don't verify them and aren't responsible for what circle members do or say. If someone crosses a line, use block and report.

Rewards

A reward in Pacts is a promise between the people in your circle — a pizza night, the next film choice, a favour owed. You agree it, and you honour it between yourselves. We don't provide, fund, deliver, guarantee, or mediate rewards; marking one as earned records your circle's agreement and nothing more. A reward has no cash value, is not a prize, competition, or game of chance, and creates no obligation on us. If someone doesn't honour what they promised, that is between the two of you.

No warranty & liability

Pacts is provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep it running but can't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where the Australian Consumer Law implies a guarantee that can't be excluded, and where the law permits, our liability for breaching it is limited to re-supplying the service (or paying the cost of doing so).

To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses arising from your use of the app, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Pacts in the 12 months before the claim and A$50.

Ending your use

You can stop any time by deleting your account (Settings → Account → Delete account).

We may suspend or end access for serious or repeated breaches of these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Nothing here takes away rights you have under mandatory consumer laws that apply where you live.

Changes & contact

We may update these terms; material changes will be dated above and noted in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept it. Questions: support@getpacts.com.
